Silvera for Seniors

World Record

The goal:

Silvera for Seniors is an organization providing affordable housing for more than 1,500 seniors. Silvera was looking for a way to commemorate its 50th anniversary, to debunk common myths about seniors, to raise its profile in Calgary while increasing interaction between the residents of its various communities.

The project:

With these objectives in mind, Momentum Communications went straight to work, creating an event that would garner both public and media attention and help promote the active Cheap NFL Jerseys and healthy lifestyle that Silvera seniors live. Silvera residents would attempt a Guinness World Record for the most people doing a chair-based exercise!
Leading up to the event, Momentum engaged residents from the 31 different communities – developing promotional materials, coordinating training sessions and determining travel logistics. Guinness World Records required many specific and detailed guidelines be followed to set the record – including the guarantee of 250 participants.

The result:

On Sunday, September 9, 2012 –coinciding with National Grandparents’ Day – 272 seniors attempted to set Guinness World Record by doing a 30 minute Cane-Fu exercise. Trinity Place Foundation of Alberta (TPFA) is the largest provider of self-contained, subsidized housing for seniors in Calgary. Seeking to reinforce and communicate its brand promise and housing philosophy to community partners, TPFA engaged Momentum to tell the TPFA story to the broader public, and to position the organization as a leader in senior’s housing.

The project:

To help build profile for TPFA among key audiences, Momentum worked to develop a strategic communications plan that focused on increasing media coverage, conducting a survey with community partners to understand current perceptions of TPFA and increasing efforts to communicate with both external and internal audiences, including updating website content to reflect the innovative and leading work that TPFA is doing.

The result:

Implementation of the plan is ongoing, however qualitative and quantitative methods have been used to measure the effectiveness of the communication strategies. Feedback from TPFA’s Report to Community and results from a stakeholder survey suggest that key messages are being understood by community partners and other stakeholders.
