Communications Consultant

The role of communications consultant requires a PR professional with 3‐5 years of experience.

We’re looking for someone with an eye for detail, who can pitch a story, manage event logistics
and write with style and purpose.

The successful candidate is good under pressure and is comfortable working on multiple
projects at once.

A degree in PR, communications or related field is required, and dedication to the profession
through participation in CPRS or IABC is an asset.

Responsibilities

Communications

  • Provide communications strategy and support for a diverse client base – in private, public and not‐for‐profit sectors
  • Liaise with clients to produce key messages and provide approvals for various communications pieces
  • Research, write and edit content for various communications channels, including but not limited to newsletters, websites, and annual reports
  • Write, review, edit and approve publications to ensure they align with key messages and communications objectives

Media relations

  • Assist in the development and execution of local media strategies by writing press releases,
  • developing media kits, coordinating news conferences and securing media interviews with
  • key spokespeople
  • Responsible for the writing and distribution of media materials such as news releases, public
  • service announcements and media advisories to the proper news outlets
  • Assist in the media coaching of key spokespeople
  • Events management
  • Support development of communications proposals and budgets for a wide variety of events
  • Conduct research, make site visits and source vendors to ensure all details of an event are
  • secure
  • Develop and adhere to work plans and budgets throughout the event planning process
  • Ensure that all events adhere to the overall communications objectives set out by the client
  • Manage on‐site production of client events, during the day, evenings or weekends
